Since the launch of its first issue in 1986, Thanh Nien has become one of the most prestigious and influential
newspapers in Vietnam. Thanh Nien is a daily newspaper, with a total readership of over 162 million copies last year,
and is one of the most widely circulated newspapers in Vietnam. Besides its daily newspaper, Thanh Nien also has a
weekly magazine and websites in both Vietnamese

In addition to fulfilling its primary function of reporting news, Thanh Nien has also been actively involved in social,
cultural, and sports activities. The Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarship Fund was set up in 1992 with the aim to help poor
Vietnamese students succeed in life by providing financial assistance for their education, and has since raised over
2 billion Vietnamese Dongs, partly from the successive organizing of the Charming Vietnam Gala, for the dependants
under this scheme.
Thanh Nien has been making efforts to improve the quality of its publications and financial results. It also continues
with its various sports, cultural, scholarship and charity programs. It focuses on selecting and funding talented
youths for overseas training in international law and finance, among others. Besides Duyen Dang Vietnam Show in
Singapore and the Under-21 National Football Championship, which will be followed by an international youth football
championship, it is also seeking to co-host the 2008 Southeast Asian Football Cup.
